Please help! My child's instrument is no longer working. What should I do?
If your child's instrument is no longer working, don't freak out! I am here to help! There can be a list of reasons why the instrument isn't working anymore. Follow the steps below:
Contact Ms. Gomez -- you can reach me via Remind, by email, or by calling the school.
As best as you can, please explain the problem and give as many details as possible. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO FIX THE INSTRUMENT YOURSELF!!! By explaining the problem to me, I can determine if it is something that can be fixed with step-by-step guidance from me over the phone or something that requires my attention. At this point, you will be asked to drop the instrument off at the school at the main office, or if you are not able to, we can discuss another option for me to get the instrument.
Once I have the instrument at school, I will be able to look at it to see what is wrong. If it is an easy fix, I will take care of it as quickly as possible and I will contact you for a time to pick up the instrument at LBMS.
If the instrument needs more attention beyond what I can do at school, I will contact you in regards to sending it to our instrument repair shop (Burley Musical Instrument Repair Service). I will explain that the repair man will take the instrument to look at the damage and provide an estimate quote of what is exactly wrong and how much it will cost to fix the instrument. We will then discuss payment options, etc. moving forward. It will take a week or two for the instrument to be fixed.
Please contact me right away if there is an issue with your instrument! I want to make sure your child has the best experience possible with a working band instrument in hand!
