We are a small catholic non-profit school run as a public-private partnership located in Madrid. It covers students from the age of 3 up to 16 years old. There is a total of 747 students and 57 staff members at our school. Our school was founded by the Missionary sisters of the Immaculate Heart of Jesus and undertakes a mission of evangelization, inspired by the educational guidelines that Mother Catalina de María Rodríguez bequeathed to the Congregation: To help them discover and give love to our students, under the motto “Love and Reparation”, seeking personal care and attention for those most in need, the weak and the vulnerable. Our students come from different cultural backgrounds and some of them come from countries like China, Paraguay, Peru, Argentina or Ecuador. Taking into account our main guidelines, our religious matters department plays a crucial role in developing humanitarian activities that include fundraising events in which students participate voluntarily. We aim to develop strong positive values like Open-mindedness, Reliability, Loyalty, Commitment, Honesty, Efficiency, Innovation, Creativity, Good humor, Compassion, Motivation, Optimism, Respect, Perseverance, Service to others, Dependability or Environmentalism. A bilingual project is being implemented in our school, having subjects solely taught in English. Our school has come to the conclusion that the current teaching methodologies are in need of updating to bring them up to speed with current educational practice. Cooperative learning is considered beneficial for many reasons, but is relevant to our bilingual school as it is particularly beneficial for second language acquisition, as cooperative learning activities promote peer interaction. We are determined to provide the highest standards within our educational setting and to gain bigger insights into the European dimension. Experiences and practices on bilingualism will be shared, as well as new methodologies and technological tools expecting future collaborations in European projects. We aim for a positive improvement of both students, teachers and families, striving for the excellence of teaching and learning standards of this school as one of the key goals. For our school this programme is a great opportunity.
