The school accepts primarily pupils from local area, according to the laws valid in the Czech Republic. Due to the school’s position in the centre of Prague, the pupils come from various backgrounds. The school is well known to accept children from multicultural families, challenging social background or pupils with special needs. The school cooperates with Charles University on teacher training programmes. The school was a pilot school for Framework Educational Programme being implemented into the Czech educational system few years ago. This programme is based on integration of subjects into broader sections and enabling pupils to understand the world in a wide angle. The school’s position in primary education is important both for targeting the individual learning needs of pupils and personalizing them and applying verbal evaluation in all grades.
As a basis of educational plan a two week period is taken and the programme for this period is made in teams of teachers of individual grades. They cooperate closely on creating projects connecting more subjects and key competences at the same time. Pupils are encouraged to work with various sources of information. Cooperation with parents is a part of teachers´ work and parents are understood as partners. English language is taught from the first grade and second foreign language (Spanish or German) is obligatory from the seventh grade. The school´s motivation to join this project is to offer both pupils and teachers to develop cultural awareness, English language and to learn and respect European values in real life situation. Moreover, teachers will have the opportunity to learn new methods by observing the best practice from their colleagues abroad. Taking part in this Erasmus+ project will bring new energy and thinking in European perspective to the whole school life.
