What will I do in the ceremony?
At this special event, every chapter member has a role to play:
Sophomore, junior & senior inductees will take the pledge of membership and receive their membership pins, cards and certificates.
Juniors host the event – serving as marshals and supporting their new board.
Seniors will retire from their leadership roles, receive academic regalia and prepare to become graduate members of the National Honor Society.
Academic Regalia
Each senior who is a member in good standing will be invested with a legacy stole. Worn at commencement, these stoles act as a public symbol of each member’s dedication to scholarship, service, leadership, and character. It’s a special privilege and honor granted only to graduating seniors who are members in good standing.
What should I wear?
Casual “business attire” is appropriate for this event- think a step above jeans and a t-shirt. Members who are representing our school by playing in an athletic event prior to the ceremony should not feel as though they can’t attend the event if they don’t have time to change out of their uniforms. Our athletes serve our school and are most welcome to attend the ceremony while still in uniform- grass stains and all. (Go Lancers!)
Should I wear my NHS Membership Pin?
Members who have already been inducted should wear their membership pins to this event and we invite all members of the National Honor Society – active, graduate and honorary to wear their pins to the ceremony as well. Don't have a pin? Don't worry. If you're being inducted, you will receive your pin. If you lost yours, see Mrs. Juster for a replacement - Cost: $10.
