Bridger Behavior Correction
Staff members will model, expect, and enforce expectations by taking appropriate action when expectations are not being met. All educators are responsible for actively promoting a safe, positive environment for students and staff through the application of these principles. A common set of core beliefs and principles identified by staff members serve as the basis for all decisions regarding the treatment of discipline problems.
Teacher Managed Behaviors
Level 1 Behaviors:
Behaviors easily dealt with and taken care of in the classroom setting.
Talk outs
Out of Seat
Non-Compliance
Mildly inappropriate interactions
Off-task
Unprepared
Refusal to complete work or participate
Academic dishonesty
Level 2 Behaviors:
Behaviors should be dealt with first in the classroom. If a problem continues and the teacher is unable to teach through the disruption, an office refocus referral is appropriate:
Moderately inappropriate interactions
Defiance: running away, arguing, screaming
Disruptive: behavior that prevents others from learning
Inappropriate computer use
Throwing objects
Electronic devices (cell phone)
Level 1 and 2 Behavior Interventions
All teachers utilize the Raise Responsibility System (RRS - designed by Marvin Marshall) to develop effective procedures and identify behavior that is "above (or below) the line" within the classroom setting to promote acceptable behaviors and deter unacceptable behaviors. Teachers will notify individual students of unacceptable behavior and take action accordingly:
Check for Understanding - students are encouraged to recognize and acknowledge a chosen level of behavior
Guided choices are used to elicit a procedure or consequence to redirect future impulse
If the student behavior persists (Behavior Correction)
A Reflection Sheet for self-evaluation will be used (first sheet is for learning)
If the disruption continues and a second Reflection Sheet is needed, both Reflection Sheets will be sent home to parents/guardians
When a third Reflection Sheet is needed an office referral (Refocus or the Principal) and a call will be made home to parents
Administration Managed Behaviors
Level 3 Behaviors:
Behaviors or Safe School Violations that should always be dealt with through Principal Goodman and the Refocus Specialist (Paige Swenson), and are always an automatic office refocus referral. When a student is an immediate danger to themselves or others, ensure other students safety by clearing them from the situation and notify the Principal and/or Refocus Specialist and/or call for assistance.
Aggression (towards peers or staff)
Weapons (including replicas)
Bullying/Aggression
Bullying/Threats or intimidation
Bullying/Teasing, put downs, exclusion, slander
Verbal threat
Sexually inappropriate behavior
Property damage
Theft
Students who are a threat to themselves or others
Level 3 Behavior Interventions and Consequence
Students that fail to respond to classroom interventions will be given an office refocus referral. Students referred to refocus for chronic misbehavior and severe offenses will receive the following possible responses, interventions and/or consequences:
A conversations with the principal
Meeting with Bridger staff, the student, and a parent or guardian
A verbal or written apology
Non-participation in a school activity (which may include, but is not limited to, lunch, enrichment or extracurricular activities, sports, school events, or celebrations)

In-School Suspension (ISS) (ISS parent letter sent home and phone call from administration)
