AP Music Theory

AP Music Theory is the course taught by Mr. Porter. The Honors Music Theory class is a required prerequisite for this class. This class builds on the knowledge learned in Honors Music Theory and progresses at a faster pace. This class has an AP Exam during the spring of every school year. If a student does well enough on the exam, then the credits for this class can be used as college credits. Students will work on developing sheet music analysis skills, sight singing, composition, and aural skills, all of which will be assessed on the AP Exam, which takes place near the end of the year.
