Institute Discipline Maintenance

Purpose:

To lay down SOP on conduct of enquiries in report of instances of indiscipline / insubordination and unwanted activities as well as relevant disciplinary proceedings post such enquiries.

Scope:

Project, portray and present a true reflection of an academic institution wherein academic activities are conducted by providing conducive and pleasant teaching and learning environments free of all disturbances and distractions and to inculcate and improve the personality of the students to meet the future challenges in a disciplined, organized and civilized manner.

Responsibility:

· To derive a comprehensive policy for the campus to create civilized, safe and conducive environments for the students to bring professionalism among them by inculcating noble practices.

· To maintain and enforce strict discipline within the college campus.

· To maintain and enforce strict punctuality in all spheres i.e. attendance, assignments, events.

· To ensure that as per UGC directions for prohibition of Ragging in any form in the college are observed strictly. Any student found guilty in ragging will be immediately expelled from the college followed by criminal procedures as per the law.

· All students must put on the Identity Card as long as he/she is in the College campus. It is used for permitting the student to participate in various activities and programs of the college. I-card must be produced by the student whenever demanded by a member of the teaching or non-teaching staff of the college. Every student must bring his/her Identity Card to the college every day.

· To enforce total prohibition of cell phone usage in the academic area of the college this includes Lecture Halls, Laboratories and Library. Dodgers will be penalized and their instrument will be confiscated.

· To monitor the movement of the students in the college and prevent students loitering around in the corridors during the college working hours.

· To ensure that students do not abstain from classes, practicals, examinations without prior permission of the concern teacher and Head of the Department.

· In case of any misbehavior or violation of the college rules, the ID cards of the students will be kept with the Disciplinary Committee Members till the enquiry is over.

· To see that students are not indulging in no activity inside or outside the college that meddle with the discipline of the college or taint the reputation of the College.

· To ensure that students are expected to see the college Notice Board every day and update herself / himself with the latest happenings.

· Student should first meet their class mentor for any query regarding studies or related problems.

· To ensure that students maintain complete silence in the library.

· To see that proper discipline is maintained by students in the college canteen and waiting room during the college working hours.

· Students mandatorily follow the safety norms of working in the Laboratories.

· If any damage is caused to the college property by any student / group of students, the cost of the same will be recovered with a fine from the said student / group of this will be followed by disciplinary action.

· Use of foul language or any act which hurts the other students/staff physically/mentally is strictly prohibited. If not followed disciplinary actions to the level of expulsion may be taken.

· In case of any misconduct by the student, she/he will be asked to represent in front of discipline committee. The decision of the committee will be considered final and all will have to abide to it.

Accountability:

To have optimistic approach in imparting discipline among students/ Faculty. Framing rules and regulations to maintain discipline in the college premises.

Definitions:

Education should bring in moral ethical values of well being to learners and every educator and educating institutions should strive hard to bring in the core human values in the process of learning and focus on quality approach to ensure better living with better educated countrymen. Discipline is the bridge between goals and accomplishment that ensures strict rules and regulations for students on behalf of discipline committee.
