Dear Cavelero Students and Families:
Welcome to our 8th and 9th grade students and their families! Our goal is that this student course planning guide helps you plan for your next year’s classes and to help prepare our students to be college and/or career ready. To do this we offer a variety of core curriculum, elective classes, clubs, athletics and support systems to help our students be successful. We encourage each of our students to become involved with after school activities in order to build stronger connections within our school. Please see our website for information about these opportunities.
In order to meet the unique needs of the 8th and 9th grade years, we will help students begin their very own High School and Beyond Plan (please see the link to the High School and Beyond Plan under the Parents and Students tab on our website). This planning tool will be used as a guide to help each student meet our district’s graduation requirements, as well as their college and/or career path after high school. In addition, we will teach our students about the importance of digital citizenship, daily attendance and being kind to every person they meet. By doing this, we will create a culture of belonging and a commitment to each other’s success.
Throughout the year we emphasize what it means to be a successful student and citizen by teaching our students the C.O.L.T.S. Expectations. We are Committed, Open-minded, Loving, Talented and Scholarly.
This Cavelero Mid High Course Handbook is used as a resource for students and their families. It is vital that our students and their families are aware of all state and district graduation requirements. This knowledge will assist the students when they register for their 8th and 9th Grade classes. It is also important to utilize the included Four Year Course Planner as our students select the classes that will prepare them for their future goals. At year’s end, our 9th Graders should have earned six credits, passing all classes each semester, so all future opportunities are still available.
We look forward to working with you. Go Colts!
