The Art 1 course teaches the basic design elements. A variety of art media are employed such as painting, drawing, printmaking, and clay. The Art 2 course reviews the basic design elements and introduces the design principles. A variety of media is employed such as, painting, clay, wire, and collage. This course prepares students for advanced art classes.

Art 8 challenges students to engage and further their creative thinking through painting, drawing, ceramics, and digital artwork. Students will learn artistic concepts and methods to support their creative thinking. Students will also explore the presence of art in a variety of cultures and careers. This course is one semester long and could be paired with Flight and Space, Digital Media 8, Robotics or Tech MFG 8.

This elective course requires previous study of an instrument of the band OR willingness to study privately with an instructor. Music representing different styles and periods of history is learned and performed. Opportunities for composition and conducting may be explored, too. Band members are required to perform at all band events such as public concerts, contests, festivals and parades. Students shall work for continuous growth in musical skills and awareness of musical styles. Students will be required to purchase an outfit and a Method book. If for any reason the fee for this class is a hardship, please contact your student's counselor for assistance. This is a high school credit bearing class that will automatically have the credit and corresponding grade placed on the student's high school transcript. Students have until the end of their 11th grade year to remove the credit bearing course from their transcript. That request must be made through the student's high school counselor.

Prerequisite: Student must provide their own acoustic guitar for the class
Students MUST furnish their own ACOUSTIC guitar for the class. This elective music course is open to all students who are interested in learning guitar. There is no experience necessary but spending time working with your guitar is a must. Students will learn how to chord, read music, count, and by the end of the course be able to hold their own at any open mic. The emphasis on this class is gaining the skills necessary to cover popular songs of your choosing.

An entry-level to group singing performance class for Soprano and Alto singers, students with a desire to sing and have fun in music making are encouraged to join this course. Course content includes the study and performance of three part choral music. This choir will perform music from all different periods as well as all different styles such as jazz, musical theater or movies, pop and classical. Students learn skills including note reading, vocal technique, musical vocabulary, musical phrasing and performance varied styles. The ensemble performs at several concerts, festivals, contests and community events throughout the school year during and after school hours. This is a high school credit bearing class that will automatically have the credit and corresponding grade placed on the student's high school transcript. Students have until the end of their 11th grade year to remove the credit bearing course from their transcript. That request must be made through the student's high school counselor.

The wind ensemble is Cavelero’s “elite instrumental ensemble”. Students will learn complicated literature and be expected to put in more time at home. Band members are required to perform at all band events such as public concerts, contests, and festivals. Students shall work for achievement of higher level skills and performance practices and will be required to purchase an outfit and a method book. There will also be transportation and entrance fees for special events, competitions and parades. A fee schedule will be supplied at the beginning of the school year. If for any reason the fee for this class is a hardship, please contact your student's counselor for assistance. Students who took choir in grade 7 or 8 with a high level of success are encouraged to choose this course. Serving all students with a Soprano (higher vocal range), Alto (middle vocal range) or unchanged/changed Baritone voice (lower vocal range) in a mixed group setting, this choir will focus on the elements of choral music from a variety of musical traditions and cultures both contemporary and historical. Course content includes singing in three to five-part music of all styles and periods, note reading, vocal technique, musical vocabulary, musical phrasing and performance. The choir will perform several concerts, festivals and community service events throughout the year during and after school hours. This is a high school credit bearing class that will automatically have the credit and corresponding grade placed on the student's high school transcript.
