This course includes everything from how chemicals react to create an explosion to how the forces acting on a falling object affect its motion, everything around you and the world you live in is connected to the study of Physical Science. Topics include the scientific method, an intro to chemistry, an intro to physics as well as energy and the solar system. Hands-on activities will be incorporated throughout the year.

Biology is a two (2) semester Junior (11th grade) level course that explores the general principles of life. Emphasis is given to Ecology, the structure and function of cells, the concepts of heredity, and the classification of plants and animals. Laboratory experiments are provided to emphasize the subject matter. Enrollees should be very diligent students who have earned strong grades in previous Science courses, and are comfortable reading material that is above grade level. This class is recommended for those planning to enroll in AP level science courses as a Junior and Senior at LSHS, and for those who plan to attend college. This course will prepare students to pass the End Of Course Biology assessment in order to meet the Washington State Graduation Requirements. Students should get a recommendation from their current science teacher before enrolling in this class.
