8th grade science is the 3rd and final year of the Amplify curriculum that students have used in both 6th and 7th grade. It is an online curriculum and will rely heavily on students bringing their charged chromebooks everyday. Additional hands-on activities will be incorporated throughout the year. Subjects covered will include, Energy, Force and Motion, Magnetic Force, Light Waves, Earth, Moon, and Sun, Natural Selection, and Evolutionary History.

Challenge Science is an accelerated course of both 8th and 9th grade science standards. The 8th grade science content includes topics covered in 8th grade science Amplify curriculum. The 9th grade science content includes the topics covered in 9th grade science curriculum. This class is a pathway to Biology in 9th grade and may be counted as a high school credit. Students must earn a B or better in Science 8 or a C or better in Challenge Science 8 in order to enroll in Biology the following year. This is a high school credit bearing class that will automatically have the credit and corresponding grade placed on the student's high school transcript. Students have until the end of their 11th grade year to remove the credit bearing course from their transcript. That request must be made through the student's high school counselor.
