CKLA Pacing Guide Guidance 2023-2024
During the 2023-2024 school year we will use the pacing guide below to align our work across the district as we implement CKLA for the first time.
NOTE: Our goal is to provide a pacing guide that has high expectations for implementation of CKLA. We want to make sure students are exposed to as much of the curriculum as they can be in this first year. At the same time, we recognize that we will all experience a learning curve around implementation and pacing of lessons and units. We may need to make some adjustments to the pacing guides as the year goes on, or as we move into next year, based on what we learn in year one.
LESSON INTEGRITY: It is important that classroom teachers implement each CKLA lesson completely and do not skip over chunks of a lesson in order to stick to the pacing guide. In our first year, it’s possible that some lessons may take more than one day. This is ok. If chunks of lessons are skipped, then important standards will be missed and the comprehensive nature of CKLA will be less effective. If we need to adjust our pacing guide, we will do so by pulling a unit from the end of the school year vs. streamlining lessons and/or units along the way. This guidance comes directly from the CKLA Amplify team.
