To immerse your child into the world of coding, have them complete 'Hour of Code' activities. There are many different activities, including a range of their favourite characters, that students can complete.
Some activities include:
The button above contains a bit more explanation of the science behind this challenge, and an outline of the activity.
NEED
The device must make items move using air (you cannot touch the items you want to move)
THINK
Plan your design. Draw what you think would make a good air cannon and think about what materials you have available. Consider what other machines or devices move things using air.
MAKEĀ
Build your design and experiment with your materials.
TRY
Test your device. How far can you make some confetti move? How far can you make a feather move?
REFINE
Evaluate your device. Was it successful? Why or why not? What can you do to improve your device? What happens if you change the shape or volume of the device?
You can log in to your LPS account to share a picture or video of your floating device to the STEAM teachers. We'll look for well refined devices and clear pictures to share on our celebrations page!
