Professional Growth Procedures for LIS Programme Support Staff
The LIS Programme Support Staff Professional Growth Procedures are designed to support the development of each programme support member in line with our LIS Programme Support Staff Standards. They are undertaken individually, collaboratively with colleagues, and with the school section leadership. There will be a focus on feedback, reflection and self-assessment.
Professional Growth links directly to the LIS Values
A commitment to continual improvement for all members of the community is paramount.
Learning is a social and emotional process that is authentic, differentiated and fosters international-mindedness.
Learning cognitive, creative, physical, social and emotional skills are fundamental for a balanced learning experience.
Learning thrives when positive, respectful relationships exist in an inclusive environment.
The ultimate aim of the Professional Growth Procedures is to:
support student learning and professional performance.
enable staff to learn about, develop, implement and focus attention on ‘best practice’.
encourage dialogue and further develop professional relationships.
further develop shared values within the teams or department.
demonstrate the breadth of professional skill and experience within teams.
The model supports professional growth through:
biannual self-reflection against the Programme Support Staff Standards
the setting of a goal and actions toward achieving it.
regular informal classroom observations by teachers and PLT
a series of meetings with a supervisor to discuss feedback and progress in achieving the goal.
