Pinwheel Scones
ingredients
1c flour
1D baking Powder
1/4t salt
1T margarine or butter
1/3c milk
Method
Sift flour, Baking Powder and salt into a bowl
Measure margarine and rub into the dry ingredients
Make a well add milk use a knife to mix into a dough
Knead dough lightly on a lightly floured table
Using a rolling pin roll the dough into a rectangle 20cm x15cm
Cinnamon apple pinwheel
Wash, core and grate apple. Squeeze to remove excess juice leave on a plate
Mix 3T margarine with 3 T brown sugar and 1t cinnamon in a small bowl.
Spread this over the dough, leave 1cm free on one edge (15cm) and dampen with a little water
Sprinkle grated apple over the dough up to the 1cm free edge
Roll tightly to the edge dampened with water
Cut into approximately 3cm pieces place onto a lined tray bake at 200 deg fan forced for 15 to 20 minutes
Savoury pinwheels
Grate cheese, dice onion
Spread tomato paste lightly over the dough leave one edge free and dampen with water
Sprinkle oregano over the dough then sprinkle cheese, onion and spinach leaves
Roll up as for the cinnamon pinwheel scone and cut into 3cm pieces Bake for 15 to 20 minutes on a lined tray
