In the 19th century, beef from German Hamburg cows was minced and combined with garlic, onions, salt and pepper, then formed into patties (without bread or a bun) to make Hamburg steaks

Ingredients
For each person
50g mince
3 T bread crumbs
1T beaten egg
½ t Worcester sauce
1/8 t salt
A shake of pepper
Method
Mix ingredients together and shape into a pattie –flatten to the size of the hamburger bun
Bake at 200 degrees Celsius for 15 -20 minutes until cooked thoroughly
Juices run clear and no pink in the middle.
Select the fillings of your choice and assemble your burger
