How did the Hamburger get it's name?

In the 19th century, beef from German Hamburg cows was minced and combined with garlic, onions, salt and pepper, then formed into patties (without bread or a bun) to make Hamburg steaks

Ingredients

For each person

  • 50g mince

  • 3 T bread crumbs

  • 1T beaten egg

  • ½ t Worcester sauce

  • 1/8 t salt

  • A shake of pepper

Method

  1. Mix ingredients together and shape into a pattie –flatten to the size of the hamburger bun

  2. Bake at 200 degrees Celsius for 15 -20 minutes until cooked thoroughly

  3. Juices run clear and no pink in the middle.

  4. Select the fillings of your choice and assemble your burger

  5. Cheese, lettuce, tomato, red onion, gherkin, pineapple beetroot, mayonnaise, chutney, tomato sauce
