The MYP global contexts direct a student’s learning towards independent inquiry into our common humanity and shared guardianship of the planet. Students must identify one of these global contexts for their MYP Personal Project in order to establish the relevance of their project and why it matters outside of a school requirement. Students choose only one global context to define and drive their goal.
Other global contexts may relate or inform the chosen goal, but only one context may be applied in this process and subsequently discussed in the report.
Students may consider the following questions as they choose a global context through which to focus their project:
· What do I want to achieve through my personal project?
· What do I want others to understand through my work?
· What impact do I want my project to have?
· How can a specific context give greater purpose to my project?
The choice of the global context will significantly shift the topic and goal of the personal project. See below for examples of the effects of internet access and how this topic changes depending on the choice of global context.

Which direction do you want to take your project?
The table HERE shows an example of an inquiry question for each of the global contexts, along with a sample product and justification. Your goal will be some combination of the inquiry question, audience and product.
