Ongoing updating of our collections.
Providing online databases regularly to help address curriculum needs.
Working with teachers and students to give them a voice in the selection of new materials.
Making the most efficient use of our Common School Funds (CSF).
Suggesting items to staff that would provide support for their curriculum.
Annual Book Fairs provided through the Library.
Involvement with CESA 12 and DPI personnel.
A district concern is declining enrollment numbers, which in time, will affect the CSF we receive.
The following are three statutory criteria for purchasing that must be met:
Purchases are limited to library books, instructional materials for school libraries, and school library computers.
Purchases are for the school library media program.
Items are purchased by the district after consultation with the DPI licensed library media specialist.
(All purchases shall be aligned to the district's long-range plan for library services. All CSF purchased materials shall be universally accessible to all students and staff within the respective school building.)
Areas that would benefit from being strengthened:
Space and storage affect the ability to provide MakerSpace opportunities.
Focus on IMC rather than several individual classroom libraries, money savings and sharing as well as organization.
Grant writing to address various needs.
Legislative safeguarding of the CSF monies so that it doesn't get absorbed in the general fund since this is the primary source of IMC funding.
