This attendance section serves as the official required WARNING NOTICE per Texas Education Code for parents and/or students who might have non-compliance attendance related issues. School districts are required to provide parents with information regarding the Compulsory School Attendance Law.
With regard to unexcused absences, a student commits a criminal offense if the student is absent for 10 or more days or parts of days in a six-month period or three or more days or parts of days in a four-week period.
The student's parent/guardian is subject to prosecution under the Texas Education Code; Section 25.093 and
The student is subject to a referral to Truancy Court under the Texas Education Code; Section 25.0951
It is the parent's duty to monitor the student's school attendance and require the student to attend school. Parents may request a conference with school officials to discuss absences.
