PLEASE NOTE THE FOLLOWING AS YOU LEARN ABOUT LEARNING STYLES:

People learn in different ways; one way is not better than the other. Dr. Rita Dunn at the Center for the Study of Learning and Teaching Styles explained, "Learning style is a biologically and developmentally imposed set of personal characteristics that make the same teaching method effective for some and ineffective for others. Every person has a learning style - it's as individual as a signature." (Learning to Teach by Linda Shalaway, 1998, p. 57).

About 40% of secondary students favor the visual learning style; about 10% auditory; and about 50%, kinesthetic/tactile.

A TEACHER SHOULD CONSIDER HOW TO INCORPORATE INSTRUCTIONAL VARIETY IN ORDER TO REACH A DIVERSE RANGE OF STUDENTS.
