Agenda:

1. Independent reading time 

   • Conference on your introductions and thesis statements

2. Look at your thesis and 2 reasons you chose. 

   • Highlight your two reasons different colors. 

   • Top of your desk: write your FIRST REASON you are writing about today. 

   • Look back through the evidence document and CIRCLE the piece that you think BEST proves your reason. 

3. Examine the model first body paragraph. Annotate/highlight what we notice. (mini-lesson on body paragraphs) 

   • Topic sentence focused on the main reason 

   • Evidence 

   • Explanation of why that evidence is important or HOW it supports your stance 

4. Workshop time 

   • Write your first body paragraph  

   • Be persuasive! Fully explain your reason with examples or maybe even anecdotes! 

Homework: 

• First body paragraph due by the start of next class.
