As a future Navy Sailor, I have become increasingly aware of how society is often male-dominated, especially in career fields not traditionally associated with women. This led me to investigate: “How do society’s double standards influence women & shape their daily experiences?” Throughout this investigation, I experimented with high contrast, expressive mark making, isolated subject/lighting, & symbolic color to communicate the constant burden carried by women bc of this double standard. Showing the resilience & determination demanded of women in order to navigate such unreasonable views/expectations. 

Throughout my investigation I've shown how society’s double standards influence females. Both males and females contain double standards by society, but more specifically females have less control over how they affect them (SI 1-3). Females have had to be compared, gain respect, and authority from males in military and civilian situations (SI 4-7). Many double standards resulted in countless women becoming isolated/self aware of the ways they are perceived ( SI 8-13). Most females are connected through these double standards, but not willingly; that's just how society bottles it up (SI 14-15).
