My parents split several years ago. My life has changed drastically since-developing in ways unique to people with split families. As it alters and affects my everyday life, I chose to analyze and artistically communicate the ways I can answer the question: How can I demonstrate my lifestyle and struggles through art as a child of divorced parents?  I plan to develop this through various artistic processes that aim to emphasize contrast and color to communicate the differences between households and barriers and turmoil that developed among my parents, my relationships, and my emotions. 

I explored the personal and universal experiences when it comes to having divorced parents. As my portfolio progressed, the art varied in subject and connection as I communicated different aspects of my life. Families become disfunctional and confusing during a divorce (1), but this pressure is also felt by kids. Through contrast and framing (1-3, 5-8), life in itself can become split and overwhelming.  Color and intentional mark-making(4-6)symbolize loss of childhood/intense emotion.  Simple backgrounds(1,3,6-8)& use of greyscale (1-3,7,8) emphasizes isolation and ill-feeling towards divorce.
