REQUIREMENTS, EXPECTATIONS & GENERAL INFO
Tryouts are open to ALL interested Diamond Students! See below for Tryout Schedule
EVERY athlete MUST HAVE A CURRENT PHYSICAL on file with Diamond school nurses prior to first day of Tryouts (Document must be dated 8/5/22 or after)
EVERY athlete MUST BE REGISTERED prior to first day of Tryouts.
Athletes/Players are expected to bring their own field hockey equipment and water to ALL tryouts, practices, and games (with the exception of Goalie Equipment) See below for more details regarding proper equipment
Expected Commitment for each Team Player is 5 DAYS PER WEEK, including games and practices
If there are any schedule conflicts, please bring them to Ms. Moulton's attention as soon as possible via email. Absence from practice may impact individual athlete play time during games
ALL Players will be assigned rotating Equipment Duties for all practices and games, and players are expected to know when they have an assigned duty
Practices end promptly at scheduled times, unless noted by the coach. All athletes should be picked up immediately after practice or have permission to walk home
If there is a half-day or no school, there is no practice
If weather is not great, last minute updates will be made over school announcements and/or email notifications will be sent at earliest possible opportunity
Game day pick ups will vary. On game days, athletes will be able to call for their rides when their game ends. If it is an away game, we start calling when we are about 20 minutes from the school to give appropriate time to respond.
School rule regarding rides from off-site games: If you want your child to get a ride home from an away game with another parent/guardian, your child must present a note to the coach stating that you give permission for the parent/guardian to transport your child.

FIELD HOCKEY EQUIPMENT
Proper Field Hockey Equipment is essential for safe and fun play, and also a necessary component of the official rules of the game. That being said, if anything is damaged or missing, players will not be allowed to play during practices and/or games.
Goggles: Specific to field hockey. They must have a ASTM sticker. The cage goggles work best. They are available at most sporting good stores and range in price from $25-$50. No Lacrosse Goggles! (these look very similar but are missing a protective bar that the field hockey goggles have, and refs will not allow athletes to play without correct eye protection)
Mouth guard: They must be colored. Clear mouth guards are not legal for play. I recommend buying more than one. You will not be able to play without a mouth piece.
Water bottle: Please bring a water bottle with you to ALL practices and games. We will be conditioning during preseason and running throughout the drills.
Cleats: Are strongly recommended, but not required. You will be less likely to slip when moving on the field than you would be in regular athletic footwear.
(Blue) Shin guards: Knee length with ankle bone protection specific to field hockey. The color is important for refs to see during games
Field hockey stick: If you don't have your own, please contact Ms. Moulton prior to first day of tryouts. Proper sizing is determined by height, leg length, and arm length
Change of clothes for Practice: Please make sure you are ready for practice at 2:50
Uniform for Games: Please make sure you are ready in full uniform before boarding game buses
Jewelry: MUST be removed for games!
