Effective April 12, 2021

Based on the recent guidelines established by the EEA, DESE, and Lexington Public Schools, the following has been established for the Spring 2021 season

  • Baseball, Softball, CO-ED Outdoor Track & Field will take place during the upcoming Spring Season at Diamond and Clarke Middle School. We also hope to offer some two day per week intramural programs at each Middle School.

  • Tryouts/practices will begin for all sports the week of Monday, April 26th. More detailed tryout and practice schedules will be distributed the Week of 4/19.

  • Rosters for all Spring teams will be limited in size and finalized by Monday, May 3rd. Track rosters will be limited to a maximum of 120 first come, first served participants.

  • MASKS ARE REQUIRED AS SPECIFIED BY MIAA SPORT SPECIFIC RULE MODIFICATIONS for all participants and coaches at practices and games. In accordance with Lexington Public School health and safety policies, GAITERS ARE NOT PERMITTED for athletic participation.

  • All student-athletes participating in a spring sport must have an IN-PERSON physical within the last 13 months (must be dated 3/26/20 or later) on file with the middle school nurse’s office. Despite the pandemic, the Massachusetts DPH will NOT accept physicals via telehealth for winter sports participation.

  • All teams will participate in a 6 game interscholastic schedule during the Spring season

  • All Middle School Games and Meets will be played on Friday afternoons.

  • Lexington will compete against one school in all sports for a two week period to limit contact and exposure and to also help with contract tracing should it be needed at any point during the season.

  • There will be no school-provided transportation provided to games, meets or matches in Lexington or in other communities. Families must provide transportation to games and meets on Fridays.

  • Most teams will practice 3-5 days per week throughout the Spring Season. Practice times and days are still being determined.

  • Attendance at all practices and games will be strictly monitored. Every participating student-athlete will be required to answer 5 questions relative to COVID screening with their coach before the start of every practice and game during the 2021 Spring Season.

  • Fans for OUTDOOR games and meets will continue to be limited at home and away venues (where permitted).

  • The standard LPS Middle School User Fee of $150.00 will be collected at the start of the Spring season for each student-athlete that is successfully rostered on each team following the tryout process. No refunds will be provided if the season is canceled.

  • The Spring 2021 online athletic registration process will begin on Monday, April 12th and will close Wednesday, April 21st. All student-athletes interested in trying out for a Spring sport must be registered by 4/21. Due to strict health and safety guidelines, NO LATE REGISTRATIONS WILL BE ACCEPTED AFTER 4/21. Registration will be through Family ID, and will be available through the Diamond and Clarke Website.
