Note: All adults who work with children in the Big Backyard program must have a valid CORI . Please click here to fill out a CORI form. CORI checks are good for 3 years.

Receive a walk guide and onsite hands-on training before walk
Report to school and gather student group
Lead students outside
Engage children with opening question or observation
Walk school grounds making observations and asking questions
Ensures each walks take place for each grade (2-3 walks per year). Coordinators work in a team and are responsible for 1-3 grades.
Attends 1-2 meetings per year with fellow coordinators from other schools to learn of new initiatives and changes to curriculum in the program.
Works with teachers to schedule and help recruit volunteers.
Uses email and signup application to request parents to volunteer
Manages supplies for walks and assembles the packets the volunteers use to lead the walks.
works with scheduler to determine supplies needed.
