Read Books 12 and 13 of The Iliad. Read carefully through Sarpedon's conversation with Glaucus, p. 261. If an individual has more, is more required? Write a journal entry for Book 12 alone.

Read Books 10 and 11 of The Iliad. No journal entry this weekend. Be ready to discuss the spies in Book 10 on Tuesday. Who are they? Which spy was captured, and what happened to him? What reasons can we give for the success of the Greeks? In Book 11, what type of foreshadowing does Zeus send?
Week 5: October 3 - 7

Complete reading Iliad, Book 9. Look carefully at Achilles' reaction to the three chosen ambassadors. Is Achilles being immature here? Journal reflection on Book 9 alone. Remember to include 1) a reference/citation 2) quality and 3) the minimum length. Look over your notes for Quiz 2 on Tuesday, October 8.

Finish reading Iliad, Book 3. Read Book 4. Go over your Cast of Characters list. Before our quiz next week, pay attention to the following: Zeus, Athena, Aphrodite, Apollo, Achilles, Hector, Menelaus, Paris, Agamemnon and Helen. Journal a reflection through Book 4.
