Commonplace Book: Number pages and set up sections. Indicate page numbers in the Index for each of these sections: Quotations, Glossary, and Notes. You may decide how large or small each section should be, but the Index should only be one page where you write the page numbers for each section either at the beginning or end of your Commonplace Book. Bring to turn in for a completion grade.
ANI chart: Set up an ANI chart using the one handed out in class as a model. Review the Prologue to The Canterbury Tales, pp. 1-6. The Pardoner and the Parson both object to the Host making all the rules or to the storytelling itself (pp. 3-4). Here is your issue: whether the other pilgrims should have ignored the Pardoner (who wanted to vote for the winner) and the Parson (who didn't want to tell stories at all). (FYI: the Parson's objection is based on I Timothy 1:4 and 4:7). Ask yourself questions similar to the ones on the back of the "Cinderella" ANI chart. Example: What is a parson? A parson is a preacher. This might go in the N column, "No, they should not have ignored him." What was happening? "The group had a long ride ahead of them." That might go in the A column because the stories would amuse them on the trip. Use your imagination and see if you can come up with at least five reasons they should ignore the Pardoner and Parson and five they should not ignore them. The I column should also have some ideas in it. They should be ideas that occur to you that don't directly tie into the issue. An example: The Pardoner had stringy hair. The squire sang. (Or maybe you could use that if you use your imagination. The singing put everyone in a good mood so they should ignore the objections. Remember, we are really asking, "Why did they ignore the objections?")
Grammar: pp. 316-317, Written Exercises A-B. Remember to write the answers on notebook paper and include the page numbers in the heading.
All written work needs a heading on the left-hand top corner. See syllabus for an example.
