Practice the Unit 3 physical features mapping if you don't have them memorized yet.

On a piece of notebook paper, write the full paradigms for 1) the noun virtus, virtutis, f. with the adjective verus-vera-verum ("true virtue"), 2) the noun carmen, carminis, n. with the adjective novus, nova, novum ("new song); and 3) the conjugation for active indicative present, future, and imperfect tenses of the verb tolero, tolerare, toleravi, toleratum. No translations needed for any of these. You should be doing this from memory - then check your work. This will be checked Tuesday for a homework grade.

Review the Volcano Project document handed out in class. Research some volcanoes and pick one that you are interested in. Characteristics that might impact your interest are whether it is active, dormant, or extinct, the location (in the ocean, on a continent, which continent etc.), the type of explosions it has experienced (slow or explosive), the distance to cities etc. Bring your volcano name to class on Tuesday. Consider selecting an alternate in case there are too many duplicates.

Complete the Grass is Greener assignment (also attached) for a 25 point assignment by doing the following for each clause. Be sure to parse ALL VERBS AND ALL NOUNS underneath the words.
First: Underline and parse all verbs.
Second: Draw a circle around all nouns and modifying adjectives that are in the accusative case and parse the nouns.
Third: Look for prepositions and prepositional phrases. Mark ablative nouns with brackets and parse.
Fourth: Look now for nouns that are in the nominative case and match the verb in person/number. For verbs in 1st or 2nd person assume the implicit pronoun. Put a rectangle around the nouns and modifying adjectives that serve as the subject and parse.
Fifth: Look for any nouns in the genitive case. Put parentheses around them and parse.
Sixth: Look for any nouns in the dative case and mark with an underline and squiggly lines on the side and parse.
Seventh: Translate underneath the parsing.

Friday/Monday work:
Complete your map of Greece you began on page 11 in your student guide. Include the towns from the sample map handout. You may also include if you choose the regions listed on the map on page 44 in The Book of the Ancient Greeks.
Review Chapter 4 in The Book of the Ancient Greeks with the marks we put in the text while reading in class. Use the text to thoroughly answer the four comprehension questions on page 13 in the student guide for Lesson 3.
Review your student guide and be sure it is fully complete for Lessons 1-3 and Review 1 (pages 4-13). This will be graded for completion and accuracy during the test on Wednesday.
To prepare for the test this coming week, study your graded quiz (see note below), the map in your student guide page 10 (including our locations for Mycenae and the Mycenaean civilization on the mainland), the timeline, and Review 1 in the student guide.

Review the meaning and form of the Latin present active infinitive (pg. 3).
Review the meaning and forms of the Latin present active imperative (pg. 5).
Study all vocabulary word flashcards.
Practice writing the conjugations of laudare and moneo (pg. 4).
Monday work:
Study all CAPVT I vocabulary words to mastery.
Study all CAPVT I paradigms to mastery.

Complete Review 1 on pages 8 and 9 in the Student Guide. Try it from memory first, then correct your answers.
Read through all of the comprehension questions for Lesson 1 and 2. Think deeply about them and the pictures you’ve seen. Have a sibling or parent ask you the questions and then answer them in your own words.
On a piece of notebook paper, label the top as Vocabulary Review 1 following the syllabus sample. Use each of the ten vocabulary words listed on page 8 in the Student Guide in one sentence of your own making. Be sure the vocabulary word meaning matches your sentence idea for each. This will be checked Tuesday for an assignment grade.
