- Hemingway was known for his "tough, terse prose." He wrote of characters who "suffered unseen scars, both physical and emotional." Select one of the short stories and evaluate Hemingway's prose -- how is it considered "tough, and terse?" How does a character suffer from an "unseen scar?"
