Mar 3

Agenda:

    • Introduce Author Imitation Project (Google Classroom)
        • Due March 11th
    • The Lost Generation
        • "Disoriented, wandering, directionless"—a recognition that there was great confusion and aimlessness among the war's survivors in the early post-war years.
    • In Our Time group work
        • Hemingway was known for his "tough, terse prose." He wrote of characters who "suffered unseen scars, both physical and emotional." Select one of the short stories and evaluate Hemingway's prose -- how is it considered "tough, and terse?" How does a character suffer from an "unseen scar?"
        • How does Hemingway display aspects of the lost generation era within the short story and through his characters?
        • How is the theme of masculinity portrayed within the short story?
    • Workshop time: In Our Time slide, blog, or Author Imitation
