“Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once we grow up.” – Pablo Picasso
Independent Study Art students plan their own project options, instead of creating the class set of projects.
Many students that do Independent Study have taken art several times, create art on their own, have artistic ability, can use art vocabulary, and are highly motivated to pursue art .
Project due dates (or at least conferences and check ins) take place at the same time as the class projects. All practice (vocabulary, planning and rough drafts) and critiques are still required when the class does these activities.
If interested, conference with Ms. Baker to make your plan.

Area middle and high school students have selected works on display during the annual festival.
Every trimester we have Fine Arts Night. Choir and band perform and we create a gallery display of student work. Most of these students are Independent Study. We stay after school, eat pizza, prepare our art for public viewing, and hang and display "the show" for friends and family.
