Hiwa-i-te-rangi is one of the 9 stars in the Matariki cluster.
It is known as the "wishing star".
This star has a connection to our hopes, dreams and aspirations for the year ahead.

Matariki is known as the mother of the eight stars
Pōhutukawa, which is connected to the dead and those who have passed away
Tupuānuku which is associated with food grown in the ground.
Tupuārangi which is associated with food that comes from the sky like berries and fruits and is also linked to birds.
Waitī which is connected to fresh water and living creatures in the rivers, streams, and lakes.
Waitā (twin of Waitī) which is associated with the ocean and represents food gathered from the sea.
Waipuna-ā-rangi which is connected to the rain.
Ururangi which is connected to the wind.
Hiwa-i-te-rangi which is connected to the promise of a prosperous season. It is also known as the wishing star.
