Welcome back to the second half of the Autumn Term! Last month the children enjoyed a visit from a Geologist who told us all about their work with rocks & soils. We looked at different samples of rock and tried to guess how they were formed.
Before half term Puffins enjoyed creating cave art and taking part in a stone age hunt during a Now Press Play experience. They also worked with Jayne from Grow, Cook, Enjoy and planted seeds in preparation for harvesting their crops and cooking with their produce during the summer term.
The children have returned to school with great enthusiasm and are looking forward to their new topics. This half term our Geography topic will be answering the question 'Who lives in the Antarctic'? This week we have learnt about longitude and latitude and have used these lines to find different places on a world map. We have also learned about the different climate zones of the world and how the climate is different depending on where the country is located. This week we have written firework inspired shape poems using similes. Our focus English text from next week is Pugs of the Frozen North by Philip Reeve and we will be learning about light in our Science lesson. On Monday 11th November please could your child bring in a torch, if they have one, to use during our Science lesson. Thank you!
