TOPIC - WEATHER AND SEASONS
Year 1 have started their new topic on the Weather and Seasons. We have been learning about the weather in the UK in Geography and how this changes throughout the year. In Science we have been finding out about Autumn and what we might see during this season. The children went on a nature hunt in the school grounds to find the clues that tell us it is Autumn. We have talked about how the morning and evenings are now becoming much darker and this is a sign that the seasons are changing.
We enjoyed reading 'Paper Dolls' by Julia Donaldson before half term. The children had fun creating their own paper dolls and describing them using adjectives. They also thought about one of their favourite memories, and wrote about these in English. For the next few weeks we are reading, 'The Robot and the Bluebird', a wonderful story about kindness, generosity and the power of friendship. The children will be writing about the Robot's journey in the next few weeks.
In computing we are learning about online safety and how to keep ourselves safe online. The children have been learning about keeping their personal details safe and not sharing these with strangers online. In Art the children have enjoyed exploring spirals and making observational drawings. They have explored using watercolours to add colour to their drawings.
