YEAR 3

This half term our new topic is North America.  Puffins enjoyed completing some independent research this week about the Rocky Mountains.  They were surprised to find out how long the mountain range is!  In our English lessons we have been looking at poetry by Valerie Bloom and writing our own versions.  Please ask the children to share their work with you on their Chromebooks.  In our Maths lessons we have been learning about Money - adding and subtracting it, as well as solving word problems involving money.  Our swimming lessons ended this week and a number of children have achieved the National Curriculum standard of swimming 25 metres, well done!  All children will swimming again in Year 4.

This week we have tended to our vegetables and planted some more as part of our work with Jayne from Grow, Cook, Enjoy.  The children are looking forward to harvesting in the Summer term and cooking with our produce.

Puffins enjoyed trying out the new junior play frame  last week- until the heavens opened and we got unexpectedly soaked!

We took part in our first ever Year 3 football tournament, competing against other LEO schools, and came 3rd overall.  Well done boys!   The girls enjoyed a football training session with Chelsea Football club on the same day.  They thoroughly enjoyed the session and are very much looking forward to next week!

Please join me next week on Tuesday 5th March after school to discuss our up coming residential!  In preparation for this, please encourage your child to practice singing the campfire songs that are on Google Classroom.  Thank you!
