The Summer Term is brilliant for Outdoor Learning Opportunities, and they have occurred weekly in the month of May! And have kept our Year 5 pupils extremely busy!
Please read on to find out about our Outdoor Science and History learning.
Firstly, Congratulations!
We are so proud of Year 5 pupil Imogen Avery - who has one of her poems published!
Our Science topic this term included Life cycles and Reproduction.
Many thanks to Jayne from Grow Cook Enjoy, who spent the morning with our Year 5 pupils, engaging them with planting in the school allotment and her Bee Workshop.
The children planted spring onion, parsley and courgette, all ready for making noodles later in the term. As they busily planted they noticed how the plants were growing and had plenty of questions for Jayne.
Many thanks to FOWA who financially supported the Year 5 visit to Hampton Court Palace, we had a glorious day.
We were very proud of how the children knowledgeably explored the Tudor rooms, after studying Tudor History in class for the past few weeks. We visited King Henry VIII's apartments, the Tudor Kitchens, Tudor World and had a brilliant workshop about Tudor Explorers such as Sir Francis Drake.
We are looking forward to the second part of Summer Term where the children will be studying the Geography Topic of Deserts, writing Newspaper reports, getting ready for Sports Day and rehearsing for the production of "Pirates of the Curry Bean!"
