YEAR 6

Thank you for supporting your children to dress up for World Book Character Day. As you can see from the photos, the children designed some superb book jackets for old favourites. Many revisited books from their 'younger days' by reading to reception children, as part of the day.

What a great time we had at St Andrew's School, which hosted us for a session of hands-on science in their laboratories, as part of British Science Week 2024.  The children were completely engrossed in making rainbows, setting fire to wire wool and observing the micro-inhabitants of moss! Back at school, we made sun dials (in spite of the lack of sun!) and water timers.

We are pleased to report that the children have taken assessment week in their stride: showing maturity and a genuine sense of purpose. In the midst of this busyness, in Maths, we have tackled negative numbers and are starting to look at position and movement, whilst in English, we are visualising characters and settings in preparation for writing an adventure story.

With best wishes,

Mrs Hettema and Mrs Povey
