Year 5 pupils continue to be excellent learners and have settled brilliantly into their new classes.
Our Ancient Greece topic was launched with "Greek Day" and the chance to experience life as a Greek Citizen. History Off the Page is a company which provides immersive and practical History workshops to schools and the children immersed themselves into various Ancient Greek activities.
Reading Cafe was a success thanks to the many families who spent time reading with our Year 5 pupils. The children enjoyed sharing stories and we had delightful feedback from many of the adults. Thank you to the community of West Ashtead Primary, for making this event possible.
Our Maths topic has moved into Addition and Subtraction with 6 figure numbers. The children are using place value counters and number lines, to visually prove their calculations and solve problems
Science this week focused on the forces of air resistance, friction and gravity. The Year 5 pupils enjoyed designing and testing parachutes.

Epsom College is one of our many partner schools where West Ashtead pupils are invited to Workshops and Master Classes. Five of our talented artists enjoyed their Art Master Class and proudly brought back their mixed media pieces inspired by Epsom College chapel.
We are looking forward to the next few weeks leading up to half term. We will be venturing out to the vegetable garden to plant seeds and bulbs. Joining Premier League Footballers for an online assembly about mental health. And learning more about AI and the future of computing.
