All Year 5 pupils have continued to work hard and show very positive learning attitudes. We are proud of their curiosity, resilience and creativity.
In Maths, the children are consolidating their fraction knowledge as they compare amounts in decimals and percentages as well.
Geography learning about Oceans will continue in Devon on residential next week and include some field work at Westward Ho! Beach.
Our Science learning about the Solar System has driven English Writing to excellence. The children became knowledgeable report writers "All about Planet Mars" and created detailed published reports about the planet , the Mars Rovers and the possible future for humans to explore The Red Planet ourselves.
The pupils are currently using their Scientific Space knowledge to create a Narrative piece of writing too. Their Space Adventure began with writing descriptive settings for the view from a Rocket in orbit, and used School Online AI 'Imaginator' programme to create digital scenes...
In Design and Technology Year 5 have been researching bridge structures, and tested Beam, Arch and Truss bridges with paper and spaghetti. This week they have begun their own Bridge builds using wooden structures. They are designing, planning and handling the hot glue and saws with purpose.
Art Bytes is a National Competition for young artists and Year 5 have entered with the support of the local Ashtead Art Society. The children loved creating their Monotype prints and took their inspiration from Berlie Doherty's Poem "Ghost in the Garden".
The competition goes live on April 3rd, where you will be able to vote for the winner!
