Year 2 have had a great few weeks. Thank you to all of the parents and carers who supported our fantastic reading cafe. Jayne from Grow Cook Enjoy came in to talk to us about the habitats of bees. She brought in a hive and some of her own Lime tree honey from her garden, which the children were able to taste. They made their own bee hotels to take home, so look out for any minibeasts moving in soon!
We have really enjoyed using the Lego Spike sets and the children worked hard to make working animal alarms. Brilliant team work was seen by all!
After the Easter Holidays Mrs Rymill will be in school 4 days a week and Mrs Courthold will continue working with Year 2 on a Friday.
This year we are continuing our use of Numbots in Year 2. Please access this at least 3 times weekly to build up their fluency and consolidate their learning.
All children should be aiming to read for at least 10 minutes per day. Do record this in their reading diary as they are monitored.
Each week your child will bring home a printed list of words to practise spelling at home.
At this point in the year there will not be handwriting homework. In Year 2 we are beginning to join up our handwriting and writing in cursive. You may choose to help your child practise this at home.
