Year 3 have had a busy start back to the half term. We have started our new text 'The Iron Man' in our writing lessons. We enjoyed listening to the story and building pictures through the use of vocabulary in the story. We have also been exploring recounts and writing our own in role. In maths this week we explored some of the properties of 2D and 3D shapes and completed our learning about lines and angles. In our geography lessons, we have started our new unit, 'Are all settlements the same?' where we discussed different types of settlements and began to identify physical and human features of our local area. In science, we have started our new unit as well, which began by recapping some of out prior learning and planning and carrying out an experiment to identify how much of each food group they eat.
Next week, we will continue to read 'The Iron Man' and will be exploring some good examples of balanced arguments, before planning and writing their own. In maths, the children will learning about and calculating perimeters of shapes as well as completing sme maths assessments. In science, the children will be revising movement and plant reproduction and in our geography lessons, we will be further exploring the physical and human features of our local area.
