We have been busy exploring science week where we have been imagining we are scientists completing different experiments!
Here are some of the experiments we have completed:
What happens to a carnation in coloured water?
What happens when we poke pencils through a bag of water?
Making fizzy paint with bicarbonate of soda?
What happens when we mix bicarbonate of soda, a bath bomb and white vinegar?
What happens when we add mentos to a bottle of coke?
What happens to skittles when they are in a bowl of warm water?
Our story this week is Harry and the Bucketful of Dinosaurs- we have been busy writing facts about dinosaurs in our books. We have also been exploring dinosaurs in cornflour, water and cocoa powder. As part of our maths we have been learning about doubles and have worked out addition by using a numberline. We have also been working hard at drawing dinosaurs.
We have also been eagerly awaiting for our tadpoles to grow their legs and turn into frogs. However this week all that has happened is that they are getting bigger! We do love watching them swimming around in their tank.
Upcoming learning.....
Maths - We will be learning all about odd and even numbers.
English/Phonics - We will be writing facts about different sea animals and we will begin to learn the skill of re-reading our work to make sure that it makes sense.
Science - We will be creating oceans in a bottle and looking at sorting animals based on whether their habitats are in the sky, on land or in the sea.
Expressive art and design- We will be creating our own bookmarks by sewing patterns onto binca, we will then be evaluating our finished product.
