Year 4 had an amazing two weeks.
Our visit to High Ashurst was a great success. The children were brilliantly well behaved and have challenged themselves in so many ways. From den building and fire making in Woodland skills, completing the climbing wall and learning how to abseil, stretching themselves on the high ropes and using problem solving, leadership skills and team building to negotiate the challenge course, they pushed themselves to achieve more. They proved themselves to be organised, independent and enquiring.
Those who were unable to join were equally as well behaved and challenged in school. They helped in EYFS and with Sports Days, completed Maths Challenges and made amazing natural art. After such an exciting start to the week, we then had our Sports Day where the children competed in a range of events and running races. The children all did their best and were determined to win points for their teams.
We have greatly enjoyed taking part in Maths Week London and creating patterns using our own tessellating shapes.
Also, we have continued our DT project by looking a t the features of food packaging and making vegetable samosas. They smelt delicious. In our writing, we have been writing newspaper reports about the Great Firework Competition in the Festival of the New Year from our book The Firework Makers's Daughter. We have begun our RSE by discussing parts of the body and changes as we grow. In our Humanities lessons we have learnt about mountains and practised using an 8 point compass.
