Last week was super fun starting with sports day on Tuesday in the sunshine. All the children put in a great deal of effort into all of the events - thank you Mr Hendra for organising a fantastic sports day! Year 2 also continued to explore their humanities topic 'Towers, tunnels and turrets'. To help as imagine as if we were in a castle, we used the Now,Press,Play headsets to role play being a servant in a king's castle. The children did amazingly well to act out the story.
Year 2 have also been extremely creative this week in English, art and DT. In English, we took inspiration from George's Marvellous Medicine to write our own stories as if we had taken the medicine and had grown taller and taller. The creativity and vocabulary that the children used in their writing was wonderful! What fantastic stories! In our DT lessons, we have been exploring the designs of different bridges and we have been building up to eventually build our own bridges. This week, we had a practise at constructing different bridges using lego, multilink cubes, wooden blocks and duplo blocks. Some of the bridges were very creative whilst others took inspiration from ones around the world. In our art lessons, we have been looking at colour washes and silhouettes. Year 2 began by creating their sunset by using the water colour pallets and then once dried, the children created a silhouette of the London skyline. They all looked beautiful!
Finally, this week has been London Maths Week! Across the week, we have been exploring maths in different ways to normal. There has been a lot of problem solving across the week. We have also been very creative and have been inspired by the artist Kandinsky!
