SPORTS CALENDAR
MEDICINES IN SCHOOL
We are able to administer prescription medicines in school. However we only administer medicine when the course cannot be completed at home. If you are unable to do this we would kindly ask that you do the following:
Complete the medicine form here
Ensure medicines are clearly labelled and in date
Come to the office with your child and their medicine before school each day
Your child will receive a medication label
Collect your medication from the office each day
SUMMER TERM EXTRA CURRICULAR CLUBS CLUBS
Thank you for completing the Summer Clubs choice form. Arbor has now been updated with club allocations. As usual this has been a lengthy process and we have tried to make sure as many children as possible have received their first choice club. Unfortunately some clubs were extremely popular so this has not been possible in all cases. If your child was not allocated a space on a club they asked for, they have been added to the waiting list.
If you decide that you no longer want a club that your child has been allocated, please let us know so that the space can be offered to another child. There are spaces left on some clubs, you can still complete the clubs form if you have not already done so.
Clubs start in the second week of term, week commencing 22nd April. External clubs may have different start dates, please check with the provider. Clubs will run until week commencing 8th July.

SUTTON COUNCIL FOOD VOUCHERS
We previously wrote to parents to confirm that we would not be issuing food vouchers to families of children eligible for free school meals after the February 2024 half term due to the funding for this scheme coming to an end. The Government has since decided to extend this scheme for a further 6 months which would include May half term and the summer holidays. The Council has now agreed that we can issue vouchers to families for the Easter 2024 period (10 days / £3 a day) but decisions on the May half term and summer holiday period have not yet been made. We will update parents on arrangements for those holiday periods when we have an update from the Council.
Our Evouchers system opened today and we will be closing the Evouchers system on 12th April 2024. Schools will not be able to claim after this date. You can claim for 10 days only (1-5 and 8-12 April), £30 per eligible child. We are unable to fund the bank holiday (29th March).
Please see a step-by-step for LA Funded options HERE.

ATTENDANCE MATTERS
At Cheam Fields Primary Academy we recognise that good attendance gives our children the best possible opportunity for learning and reaching their full potential. Children need to attend school regularly if they are to take full advantage of the education opportunities available to them as well as their relationships with friendship groups. Giving your child the best start in life is every parent or carer’s wish. The opportunity to learn and make progress is essential to improve life chances. Good attendance is key to securing this.
Illness - If your child is going to be off school due to illness, please complete our Absence form here by 8:30a.m on each day of Absence giving the reasons for any absence, this is an important safeguarding issue for the school.
Appointments - If your child has to have an appointment during school time please fill in the appointments form here. If your child will be in school over the lunch period please ensure you have filled in if they will be school dinners or packed lunch. A copy of any evidence for appointments can be emailed or brought into the office.
Exceptional Absence - Taking holidays in term time affects children’s schooling as much as any other absence and the school expects parents to help us by not taking children away in school time. There is no automatic entitlement in law to time off in term time to go on holiday. The Governing Body does not sanction absence during term time. Any authorisation given by the Principal will be at her discretion and only in exceptional circumstances.
Please fill in the request for exceptional absence here.

PTFA NEWS - HELP NEEDED
We need?
Do you DJ in your spare time? Have you always wanted to DJ but didn’t get your break on the clubbing scene? Do you have family or friends who are always designated DJ at family gatherings and might want to share their skills?
The PTFA are looking for someone to become their inhouse DJ for the school disco’s, which raise funds for resources for our children. The next Disco’s are May 22nd and 23rd running from after school until approximately 5.30pm each day. In order to maximise the fundraising opportunity for the school, this is not a paid position however, we will cover out of pocket expenses and of course there is the DJ kudos and glory status that comes with the territory.
We can provide all the equipment, a friendly and supportive fan base and suggestions on the floor fillers that have worked in the past. There will also be a number of volunteers who help on the day with ‘crowd control’ and helping build the disco party atmosphere. If you are interested please leave your details with the office and someone will contact you.
We would like to extend a sincere thank you to the PTFA for their hard work and dedication throughout the year. Their efforts have made a significant impact on our school community. Their efforts have gone on to raise valuable funds which have purchased a new playground equipment for Early Years and a Scooter Storage. Brilliant, Thank you!
