The past two weeks have been a whirlwind of exciting learning experiences for our Year 6 pupils!
Maths
In Mathematics, we have been exploring the fascinating world of geometry! We have delved into the concepts of area and perimeter, calculating these measurements for various shapes, including triangles and parallelograms. We have also been sharpening our algebraic skills by tackling a range of algebraic equations, developing our problem-solving abilities.
English
Stepping back in time, our English lessons have transported us to the era of World War II. We have immersed ourselves in the lives of evacuees, writing compelling diary entries from their perspective. The children have focused on using vivid descriptive language, including "show, not tell" techniques, emotive language, and expanded noun phrases to bring their writing to life.
Science
Our science lessons have been an exciting journey through the wonders of evolution. We have explored how animals have adapted over time to survive in their specific environments. The children have thoroughly enjoyed researching and creating fascinating fact files on animals of their choice, highlighting their unique adaptations and how they contribute to their survival.
History
Our Evacuation Day was a resounding success! The children had a fantastic time learning about various aspects of life during World War II, including rationing, bomb safety procedures, and the proper use of a stirrup pump for extinguishing fires. The opportunity to explore real artefacts and engage in lively discussions with their peers made the day truly memorable.
We are incredibly proud of the hard work, dedication, and enthusiasm displayed by our Year 6 pupils. They have embraced each challenge with curiosity and a thirst for knowledge.
