YEAR 2
YEAR 2
Dear Parents and Carers,
We've had another fortnight of fantastic learning in Year 2!
Writing:
Last week, our imaginations bloomed as we focused on writing riddles about a flower, taking inspiration from the book 'The Flower'. This week, we've turned our attention to becoming expert gardeners as we begin our writing unit on how to plant a seed. Inspired by the book, 'The Tin Forest', we have been exploring imperative verbs and command sentences, understanding how to give clear and concise instructions.
Maths:
Over the past two weeks, we've been mastering the art of telling time! We've focused on o'clock, quarter to, and half past. We have also been challenging ourselves to read digital clocks too.
Geography:
We have been looking at the coasts of the UK using atlases and Google maps. We identified different coastal regions and located the various seas and oceans that surround our country too.
Science:
Our inner scientists have been investigating what seeds need to grow. We discussed essential elements such as water, sunlight, and air, and made predictions for our own exciting plant experiment. The highlight of our Science lessons have been planting our very own seeds, and we're eagerly anticipating watching them germinate!
Art:
We have delved into the vibrant and abstract world of Wassily Kandinsky. We explored his unique style, focusing on his use of colour and geometric shapes to express emotions and ideas.
We look forward to another week of growth and discovery!
Sincerely,
The Year 2 Team
