Tuba Vibrato

This is a video of the tuba superstar Oystein Baadsvik. This video is a great demonstration of what vibrato should sound like when playing a tuba solo. Notice on the long notes how his pitch moves. You accomplish this by moving the jaw and pushing enough air to keep the pitch supported.

A clean instrument is a happy instrument!

This video shows a VERY thorough way to clean your instrument. He also shows how to polish the instrument. This is great but not necessary.

IMPORTANT:

1) Don't put the valves in the bath.

2) Use lukewarm water. Do not use hot or cold water.

3) Set a towel in the bottom of the bath to give the instruments parts something soft to sit on.

Warm up!

To get the most out of your practicing, you have to do a good warm up. You are using muscles just like an athlete, and these warm ups help you stretch the muscles in your face and get your air moving. These are designed specifically for your instrument and are a great way to start your practice session!
