Principal's Message
We have kick started the term with some lovely celebrations already. I took great pride in issuing year 10 students with well deserved rewards in the first week of the module. Subjects had selected students in this year group for their dedication and commitment to learning so far in year 10, and their understanding of what it means to takes to be a successful KS4 student. Each student was awarded a £15 amazon voucher for their hard work and determination and we celebrated their efforts as LEIGH learners collectively.
This week I was also particularly proud of our year 7 and 8 girls football team came 5/15 in the Leigh Academies Trust event, well done to the team! I have also enjoyed delivering assemblies to our students about 'Developing Habits' to all year groups last week, highlighting to them the importance of setting routines for their studies and reviewing the learning regularly to retain knowledge over time.
A new development for module 3 has been the introduction of my new virtual 'Friday Principal Briefings' to all students during Friday Form Times. This is to collectively celebrate achievements from the week, celebrate students who have received the highest reward points in the week and to look ahead to key events that students need to prepare for. We hope this will continue to provide opportunities to help students feel their achievements are recognised and to help our LEIGH learners better prepare for the week ahead.

Uniform
Can we please remind families that students should now be coming into the academy with winterproof coats to ensure they are warm should we have to evacuate the building and to avoid arriving to school with wet uniform. In addition hoodies of any kind are not permitted and will be confiscated if seen being worn in the academy.
TdIPV and MenACWY vaccinations
The Immunisation Team would like to invite parents to book an appointment at one of their Community Clinics this half term if your child missed their vaccinations on our visit. Parents can book an appointment via the website on the link: https://www.kentcht.nhs.uk/imms This link also provides other useful information regarding vaccinations and our Immunisation Service.
Punctuality to school
We wanted to remind parents that we are prioritising punctuality to school from Module 3. Whilst the majority of students arrive at school in good time, well equipped and ready to learn, we have noticed that some are repeatedly arriving late. Please be reminded that students are expected to be at school and ready to attend line up at 8.30 am each day. We know that poor punctuality has an adverse effect on student’s ability to be prepared for learning, hence impacting their ability to achieve. Please be advised that students will receive a 30 minute detention in the first instance. This will be escalated on the second occasion to a 60 minute detention and on the 3rd occasion to a 90 min detention. This is a reminder of the expectations and no change from the current policy.
Lost Property
We have a lot of lost property left at student services. Please can we ask that if your child has lost anything that they go and have a thorough search for these items. If nothing is claimed, this will be donated to Gillingham street angels.

Online Safety
Set up screen-free zones and times in your home, e.g: during meals or before bedtime.
This helps young people develop healthy tech habits and creates opportunities for family conversations about their online experiences.
With 22% of its billion-strong userbase being between the ages of 13 and 17, the popularity of TikTok among the younger generation is indisputable. Providing entertainment in the form of a stream of short-form video content while allowing its users to post videos of their own on the app has skyrocketed to prominence over the last few years, becoming a fixture in young people’s digital lives.
Of course, with a platform as popular and gargantuan as TikTok, it can be intimidating trying to figure out how best to safeguard children and young people using the app. That’s why we’re releasing our brand-new guide to TikTok, detailing the main online safety concerns and suggesting strategies to reduce these risks for the app’s younger users.
