Principal's Message
All families will have received our letters this week regarding our celebration rewards events for students at the end of this module. Its important to us that we continue to celebrate and reward our students who consistently come to school with positive attitudes towards their learning, peers and our staff, despite any personal challenges they face. So many of our students are model LEIGH learners everyday and its important to us that they receive recognition for this as we are incredibly proud of them. Thank you to all our parents who provide daily support, encouragement and motivation for our children, helping them to succeed in school and value the educational opportunities they are awarded with on a daily basis at Leigh Academy Rainham.
I was delighted to be invited to present at the Annual Google Education IT Admin Event today in London. It would be easy, as part of a large trust, to take for granted how digitally innovative we are as a school. Being asked to talk to other educationalists and IT teams across the country at a large scale Google event was a privilege and reminder of just how special our digital curriculum at Leigh Academy Rainham was. We have been invited to attend another Google Digital event later this term and look forward to selecting some of our students to take part as guest speakers, sharing how the unique 1:1 device scheme we have is helping them make excellent progress in their studies and become confident and responsible global digital citizens. I am pleased to be able to share that in September all year 10 students will receive new and updated devices to replace their current ones ready for their KS4 studies.
Please do ensure you have looked ahead to the key dates for the term and discuss these with your child to ensure they are aware of whether they are taking part in vaccines, buying tickets for Mary Poppins or attending any of our trips and visits.

Academy Updates
Contacting the Academy
We would like to remind all parents that the best way to contact the academy and have your query resolved swiftly is to email the college or inclusion mailbox directly for your child. The main office is very busy and there can sometimes be unavoidable delays passing messages to the college, or relevant team, when a call has been taken by reception, instead of college teams. From September we will have direct phone lines for each college, but in the meantime please email all queries to the following addresses so we can sure to respond well within our 48 hour window.

Performing Arts
Some of our Performing Arts pupils have been selected to star in a major theatrical event, as ICON Theatre present ‘Ghost Ship’ at The Historic Dockyard Chatham. They will be featuring in a number of performances with over 150 young performers, local residents and professional performing artists. Today, we were lucky enough to be visited by a member of triple Olivier Award Nominees ‘ZooNation’ in the first of our workshop rehearsals in preparation for the event in September. The pupils all thoroughly enjoyed the experience and are looking forward to this exciting opportunity.
Last Thursday 49 year 9 pupils who have chosen a performing arts subject for GCSE enjoyed a brilliant performance of Everybody’s Talking About Jamie at Marlowe Theatre.
DofE Expedition
Our first expedition completed for the bronze DofE. I was exceptionally proud of all the students who walked distances up to 15km on each day, set up camp, cooked and represented the academy with honour in the community. A wonderful bunch of very tired students. We now must learn from the expedition, ready to go again in a months time. Well done all of you.
